I saw a bit somewhere that the ISS no longer is using any Windows=20 software, they are now fully Linux. I have tried Linux several times before without positive results. The=20 latest Distro's are user friendly and offer a wide range of solutions.=20 The underlying nitty-gritty is exposed for those who wish to work close=20 to the code. Software is usually available in "packages" that assure=20 that dependent code gets installed automatically. Overall modularity=20 seems to be the norm. Usually code lives in its own folder with its own=20 configuration file to set the defaults. The modules are written with=20 mood that is both terse and whimsical. Sometimes the the modules are=20 tied into the system with scripting. An example: the (aka: SheBang)=20 |#!| syntax used in scripts to indicate an interpreter for execution. Microsoft has lost control of the industry.
