I've often=20 attempted to purchase some of the inexpensive but cool Xilinx dev=20 stuff but the ship cost was often as much or even higher than the=20 item cost itself. I'm in Canada and it just doesn't cost that much=20 to ship stuff to me. OTOH, if you reside in the USA, Xilinx *does* have some=20 reasonably-priced stuff. Ship cost one of the reasons that I promote the OLS as a dev platform=20 - that $50 cost includes shipping to pretty much anywhere in the world. VeeGee - that CoolRunner board that you recommend is also from=20 Dangerous Prototypes (as is the OLS Logic Sniffer). Ian Lesnet and=20 his buddies have designed some pretty cool stuff over the past few=20 years. Ian is also the brains behind something called the Bus Pirate=20 - a seriously cool tool that I wind up using at least once or twice each mo= nth. FWIW - I also have to thank Ian for helping me get my very first Pick=20 And Place machine - he arranged a group-buy for some=20 relatively-inexpensive PnP machines (at dealer cost, no markup)=20 direct from the manufacturer in China. I'm now happily placing=20 something like 156 components in somewhat more than two minutes for=20 one of my new products. dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
