I'm not sure if OziExplorer has an Andriod version now, but even if not, yo= u can create Ozi compatible maps and then use a free app called Androzic wi= th them on the tablet. I am using it on my phone & no need for wifi. Subject: Re: [OT] Android Uses? I have quite a few maps cached but, if I try and use them when not connected to WiFi, Google maps refuses to open and so I can't see the cached data. This is Africa, if I am in a town with WiFi access I already know where I am, but where I need to look at a map, out in the bush, there are no cell towers or WiFi hot-spots for thousands of kilometers. Fortunately I have a decent GPS and compass app and I navigate the old school way with Dead reckoning and a GPS fix piloted on a paper chart ever hour or so. Google maps is the only aspect of the Nexus 7 that I don't like, which is a pity as it was one of my main reasons to get it. Fortunately the other aspects of the device are sufficient useful to mitigate my disappointment on that score. For town driving I use my HTC Wildfire set in Voice mode and a 3G connection. I don't need to look at a map whilst in town, I just need driving directions. Cheers Chris On 2 May 2013 04:36, John Ferrell wrote: > Thank you! It works great for the area that I normally drive in.
