I once sustained a broken rib from a wheel bearing that exploded

while being persuaded off an axle shaft with a hefty hydraulic press.

Could easily have been worse.

Moral(s) of story:

Don't press bearings off - Cut them off with a torch. Duh...

Yeah, I know oxy-acetylene is pricey; it was then too;
