I was recalling the ribbon displays that used to be used on the floors=20 of brokerage houses. The mechanical version consisted of track of=20 vertical indicator dots about 7 elements tall. At the home station the=20 dots would be flipped over to show either yellow or black. The ribbon=20 was about 8 inches tall and ran around the ceiling like vertical train.=20 It was pretty noisy. A sudden change in the market would cause a=20 recognizable change in the sound and every one would stop and look. A flat plate screen of raised pins seems do able to me. The electronics=20 are already there, CNC tooling greatly reduces the building complexity.
