Some terminal emulator software examples (all free or open source): Linux (from most favourite to least favourite): * Konsole (part of the KDE suite) * Gnome terminal (part of the Gnome desktop suite) * XFCE terminal (part of the XFCE desktop) * urxvt * xterm I also always use a terminal multiplexer like tmux, or the aging GNU screen if tmux isn't available for some reason.
