Many people I know have monitored alarm systems with PIR motion triggers and I don't think ANY of them have had a false alarm. Only case I know of is somebody enabled the PIR sensors forgetting the cats were home, an hour or two later they had an alarm, which was obviously when one of the cats decided to get up. PIR sensors work EXTREMELY well in my experience.
