An idea of a novel - to write something  based (loosely) on the story
of this mailing list. Name it "The List" and sell it to Hollywood.
Some grumpy man from Alaska with great EE skills, some great folks
from Down Under, some of them being a great traveler, photographer and
linguist, some great EE guys from Romania, Sweden, Netherlands etc.
All of them are developing the concept of a gadget; with the gadget
military folks identify and deal with some threat over Pacific, say
extremely bad weather, meteor or whatever. The World (country, plane,
ship etc) is getting saved :-) The final scene - the party with
barbecue and Russian vodka, terrific NZ landscape, and the grumpy man
from Alaska saying - I'm back.
