I should say further (to Peter) that he should not have any expectation that his email address is kept hidden. He has posted to a publicly archived list (archived both at GMane and piclist.com) and one requirement to do so is to give an email address identifying yourself. Moreover, look at eg. http://www.piclist.com/techref/postbot.asp?by=3Dthread&id=3D[ADMIN]+Urgen= t+-+list+emails+no+longer+cloaked+on+&w=3Dbody&tgt=3Dpost&at=3D201302140849= 47a#084947a ZOMFGLOLBBQ, the piclist.com site is ideal for spam bots too!!! However, it looks like this is easy to fix at GMane. Each list has an "encrypt addresses" flag that can be turned on. See (pulled out of thin air) http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.australia/ for an example of the result. Presumably a moderator from here should get in contact with Lars. Also, you might want to read the careful writeup under the "Spam" heading at http://gmane.org/about.php and the (linked) http://gmane.org/tmda.php which explains what this does. >> Project Description: >> I need a good programmer to write a program for me. I wonder if they would pay extra for=20 > attempts to de-obfuscate? They definitely would not. The purchaser wants affiliate links; they don't care where you get the email addresses from. An anti-obfuscation scheme only becomes economically worthwhile for the spammer when non-obfuscated emails are hard to find, which isn't currently true. (*your* email might be hard to find, but the spammer doesn't know that you are any more juicy a target than anyone else) (And you probably aren't) Rupert --_002_r3dvu9x0n7ln2skaterswarbrick_ Content-Type: text/plain; name="ATT00001.txt" Content-Description: ATT00001.txt Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="ATT00001.txt"; size=224; creation-date="Thu, 14 Feb 2013 15:48:57 GMT"; modification-date="Thu, 14 Feb 2013 15:48:57 GMT" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 LS0gDQpodHRwOi8vd3d3LnBpY2xpc3QuY29tL3RlY2hyZWYvcGljbGlzdCBQSUMvU1ggRkFRICYg bGlzdCBhcmNoaXZlDQpWaWV3L2NoYW5nZSB5b3VyIG1lbWJlcnNoaXAgb3B0aW9ucyBhdA0KaHR0 cDovL21haWxtYW4ubWl0LmVkdS9tYWlsbWFuL2xpc3RpbmZvL3BpY2xpc3QNCg== --_002_r3dvu9x0n7ln2skaterswarbrick_-- .
