I've always had no problem putting music directly on a microSDHC card and popping it into the player. As long as the top directory is "MUSIC" you can do whatever subdirectories you want underneath. The player thinks about things for a little while when you first put in the card. It doesn't require the database to be generated on a PC/Mac (like iPods). But that is with a Fuze player. I don't know if the Fuze+ is different. You should be able to find a used Fuze for $20. Battery life is great, and they will play while charging, unlike some other brands. One nice thing about the Fuze and other name-brand players is they understand the correct playing order if you have albums. Some of the cheap players use FAT32 file order is how to sequence! Beware!
