Tape and DVD players have buttons for the interface. So if you don't have a screen, and you don't have any buttons, then exactly how do you plan to interact with it. > I have several=20 > PC's laying around that would do the job, but trying to KISS (Keep it=20 > simple stupid). If you can figure out the interface, then a device like the Western Digital WD TV Live Plus would fit the bill. It'll play movies and music. It has a composite audio/video interface/cable out the back. It accepts USB drives. Also if you network it it can play off the house media servers and has applications that connect to the internet. It has a remote. But it uses vid= eo as its interface. So without a screen, it's a bit difficult to get anything done. That's at least with the stock firmware for the one that I've had for about 3 years. Apparently the current version has a web interface. In addition, there is enhanced firmware WDLXTV-Live which offers a ton of features that the stock firmware does not. There also seems to be an Anroid app for remote control of the device. May be enough to get it done. I've been pleased with the device. I haven't hacked it with the custom firmware yet, but it certainly an idea. Hope this helps, BAJ >=20 > On 2/9/13 2:51 PM, John Ferrell wrote: > > I think a modest Windows PC with a 100-500 G hdd would be best for this > > time.
