A drivers upgrade (or back grad eor ...) trick that I read about long
ago but have never tried is

- Point path to old Windows locations that have drivers etc therein.

- Install new Windows in a new directory eg C:\WINDOZE or whatever.

Claimed that system will pick up what it wants from old locations. I
can't see this being anything like a complete solution. Hopefully I'm
wrong.
