Carries what appears to be a very small light & non threatening stick. Tag changed to [OT] as it should have been already, at least. >> On 1/27/2013 5:04 AM, RussellMc did NOT write >> This Saturday Night Live skit demonstrates our expectations from Chinese >> factory workers: >> To which >> Joe W did write > Our expectations of American workers is unfortunately accurate: > Lessee... what does America make??? Does diabetes count as a product? At a minimum you have used an unfortunate term there. American (or even USA) workers have not too much direct responsibility for whether they make products or not. Sure, step back a level or few and all are partakers in the overall situation, but it is the producers who do or don't produce in the US (or Amaerica) that are responsible for the decisions to do so or not. Having established that [tm], one may wish to be prepared to do battle over whether (even) that topic belongs here even in [OT]. It's not a battle you'll fight with me - I think it's an entirely apposite one to many on this list in the broader list context, AND I am, possibly surprisingly, while not an expert on the subject, reasonably well aware of what it takes to manufacture in the US compared with elsewhere. Skit was funny enough in its way. If focus is more on whiners than on points raised then points may be well enough made. Actual points made were either silly (as intended) or directed at the US fron end manufacturer and not the workers or even the Chinese factories per se. Interestingly, hulu allowed me to view it - in almost all other cases they say I am not in the US and bar me. In this case I can view it and THEN hule says that I am not in the US and that they have barred me. Well done hule. I copied the email to my wife. Up front hulu said that she was not in the US and banned barred her from access. Maybe if I post hulu links inside emails from PICLIst or ??? I can view then and then be barred ? :-) Russell --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
