> Only a fool would trust their safety to one of these lumps of crap formed= from > Shenzhen street sweepings. [OT =3D 1] I think that that's excessively unkind. Shenzhen streets seem about as good as any in China - and certainly better than some in Asia, except around the SEG area when it rains torrentially (which is seemingly triggered to happen every second time I walk by) when large puddles form faster than a flash crowd and drowning is a small but not statistically insignificant risk. But the sweepings elsewhere are probably not too too bad and the SEG ones would be even cleaner. I could name a large modern Asian city (non Chinese) where the street sweepings would indeed be execrable but I'll pass on that. FWIW, the people of Yogyakarta* (half way down Java) seem to have a penchant for frequently sweeping the dirt and roadway near their residences, and after seeing what it is like in some tropical countries where this practice has not caught on, it's a good penchant to acquire). [OT =3D 0] I was tempted to buy a few of said cube chargers "just to see", and now I think of it I may have even succumbed - if so they are in a box of as yet unexplored goodies in basement. But I bought a cross section of 12V power supplies notionally rated at from 2A to 5A for LED string driving. One I was loaned looked nicely built isolation wise but the mains terminals could be unscrewed with a small enough driver blade via holes thoughtfully provided in the case (really!), and the case could probably be unlatched one handed. Low and high voltage used the same cable and low voltage +ve out was the black wire with red =3D ground. I tried to examine one of the LV supplies I bought but found it was exceptionally well potted inside once I hacked off the well bonded case. In the near future I hope to pull a few other types apart - I'll report back. Russell * [OT =3D j ] Yogyakarta aka Yogya aka Jogja. Recommended. Cheap, warm, friendly, clean (considering). Real live exciting volcano close enough to threaten but far enough away (just) to know you are almost safe. Nearby is Borobudur - stunning - possibly the best anciem regime Buddhist temple site in the world (now a UNESCO temple). One of the must sees of world tourism. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
