Depending on the source/value/price of the tapestry, I wouldn't count on learning much by opening/destroying it. I'd expect the electronics to be a chip on board covered with an epoxy blob. If you're bothering hooking up a scope... Hook it up with batteries to start, then move over to your power supply and look at it again.
