update on my AT&T uverse experience...

Having the choice of the new uverse setup or none, I chose uverse.  They=20
told me my existing DSL account was good for up to 1.5mbit/s and the new=20
uverse account would be good for up to 6 mb/s - four time improvement.=20
And the price would be half of what I was currently paying for a year,=20
then back to full price. And they would waive the $100 fee for the RG:=20
residential gateway.

I bit.

What I got:
The RG is a DSL modem with wifi internal.  So I unplugged my old DSL=20
modem and also my Linksys WRT54G wifi router.  The new device seems to=20
work as well as the old.

In my area, the hi-speed television and VOIP are not yet offered. So no=20
change on any of that.

About 2 weeks ago, our phone began to exhibit lots of static and=20
dropouts.  None of the new setup affects that;  it is still poor=20
quality.  So poor that it's tough to get up to 1Mb/s on the DSL and the=20
analog voice still is full of static.  My wife called and they said it=20
was a faulty DSL filter on our end.  I eliminated all of them and=20
nothing changed.

Sure would love to see 6Mb/s...
