>> The only thing that would make PIC development perfect is a good open so= urce PIC18 compiler. SDCC is okay, but nowhere near as good as the HITECH (= now Microchip) PIC18 compiler which produces shockingly compact and optimiz= ed code. Perhaps your a bit behind the times ? The Mplabx IDE with XC8 (16 & 32) compilers are out for Linux ,mac, and windows. They ship with free licences (as well as a evaluational licence for optimizations). I've used older versions of SDCC before and wasn't impressed. The XC compiler aren=92t open source but they are free mplabx: http://www.microchip.com/pagehandler/en-us/family/mplabx/ xc compilers: http://www.microchip.com/pagehandler/en_us/devtools/mplabxc/ (off topic, now only if I could find a good ARM toolchain-ide combo ...) --=20 Jason White --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
