thanks everyone That 20 RS-232 switch looks very good! And not expensive Like you said maybe won't work... "Handshaking lines are strapped for no flow control (always on). Pin 7 RTS & 8 CTS are strapped together." I found a cable diagram DB9 DB25 1 --------SHIELD-------- 1 2 -----------RXD---------- 2 3 -----------TXD----------- 3 4 -----------DTR---------- 6 5 -----------GND---------- 7 6 -----------DSR---------- 20 7 -----------RTS---------- 5 8 -----------CTS---------- 4 I'm going to test a RX/TX cable just to make sure but with that diagram my hopes are almost gone. I have found people talking about using ethernet cable to send RS232 data over long distances. Already buying DB25-RJ45 and DB9-RJ45 adaptors. Cascade of regular switches is easy and cheap but not a nice looking. People going to say that I'm too lazy! hahaha. (If it was on my house for sure it would be the way out). --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
