Hello, I am trying use a PIC24F as an audio effect processor.
<long unintelligible rant removed, in short: the firmware works great,
level shifting hardware falls flat on its face>
In short, what are the target voltage levels for driving a pair of
amplified desktop speakers. According the what I can find: high
impedance, around 1 volt. However, everything I have tried suggests
its not. The same goes for amplifying audio/headphone output to a
suitable level for the processors ADC.

Any tips, tricks, or resources on audio level circuits would be
greatly appreciated.
