Easiest to learn (and makes the prettiest schematics, limited only by imagination) must be TinyCAD (free download) Exports a PADS-PCB format part/net list which can be imported into FreePCB (as it's name implies) which in turn exports industry standard CAM files (Gerber) Used this stuff for some serious work, as well as for just pottering about...in my opinion FreePCB rivals most commercial products as an effective and intuitive PCB editor (and I've been through a few...PCad, Protel,Ranger, XL Designer, DEX, Tango, Eagle, and dozens of other forgotten unremarkables. Just downloaded DesignSpark: the 3D stuff looks interesting, remains to be seen if it's actually useful...maybe.
