Hi all, If I run `badblocks -wsv /dev/sdd` on Linux (for example), which does a filesystem-level bad-block scan on a hard disk using a write-read -compare method, would it trigger the hard disk's own internal bad block flagging/remapping mechanism? If not, how would I go about triggering the hard disk's internal hardware bad block flagging mechanism? Would a lengthy SMART scan do the job? Or does it generally work automatically when a read/write error is "detected"? --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
