Granted some
of the WTFs are on our end but still digi-key are doing their bit to=20
make things
more awkward by (for example) not offering the option to pay VAT upfront,
not offering the option to pay in pounds but have stuff shipped by someone
other than UPS and always giving you a barrage of export questions for the
most innocuous of orders. Emails also seem to mysteriously go missing=20
between
us and digikey. Between all of theese things I find i'm lucky if it=20
takes less than
a fortnight from when the PO is faxed off and when the order is delivered.

Mouser OTOH handle everything from their end and the packages sail through.
In a few days (i've once had an order take less than 48 hours from the=20
PO being
faxed to mouser to the fedex man showing up with the package)

Now there are issues with buying from mouser. For example if stuff is=20
backordered
they default to holding the whole order until they have everything in=20
stock which
is usually not what I want. Also afaict if you want them to do more than=20
two
shipments for one order they will charge extra for that even if each of=20
the shipments
would have qualified for free delivery had it been a seperate order.=20
Finally their
small order charge is pretty steep. All this complicates the process of=20
planning
which parts to order from which vendor and how many orders to do it in.
