I just noticed the that the C18 application/peripheral/etc. library
works under XC8 (sort of...). However, the only documentation I can
find for this is from 2005 and I'm running into
compilation/documentation issues.

Does anyone know of another microchip library that would serve this
purpose ? I've looked and I can't find anything similar.
