I believe a similar warning should be applied to *anything* purchased
from Harbor Freight.

That said, a few years back HF put these meters on sale for $0.99 or
$1.99 and I picked up a dozen of them.  I wouldn't begin to think of
using them for precision measurements, but they are very convenient if
you want to track a number of measurements simultaneously.  You can
also build a nice little bench supply from a AA/9V battery holder, an
LM1117-adj, a pot, and two meters -- one for voltage and one for
current.
