As a 25 year veteran C/C++ programmer with significant experience in java I= have to say that while there may be some small resemblance in syntax - the= languages are hugely different. C in absolutely tiny (the language has ve= ry few keywords). Java is rather large. Their use models are very differe= nt, intended program structure is very different (structured versus object = oriented). The basics that the two languages share are small compared to their differe= nces. I really think that it is a misstatement to suggest that these two l= anguages are similar. I am not making a value judgement or suggesting one is better than the othe= r (although I have strong opinions on that) - just observing that they are = very different languages.
