May be some projects needn't much memory and others may need. When I wrote the question I was simply thinking from an ease-of-use point of view, more than a practical standpoint. I have mostly worked with processors with abundant flash and ram. However, when I look in the catalogs and see serial RAMs in particular I've got to wonder just a bit.
