Yes, of course. That's why I love my 6 cilinder old diesel Perkins. It simply works. Not considering pollution. And yes, new motors work at the expense of these little consideration. Don't know if now they can. i guess > no. Just be aware, that works for a dead starter, and it works with a weak battery, but with modern cars, it does NOT work with a completely dead battery. The computer needs some juice to fire the plugs and open the injectors, so you'll still need a boost on a completely dead battery.
