For the sake of clarity, there is a commonly used nomenclature (not sure there is an ISO standard for that, though... :) "Wire transfer" refers to a specific means of transferring money from one bank to another. ACH transfers (USA term) are not wire transfers. The normal account-to-account transfers as used in large parts of Europe are not wire transfers. Payments by credit card, debit card or Paypal et al are also not wire transfers. (That in all of these transfers several pieces of wire are in fact involved has no bearing on the commonly used nomenclature.) AFAIK, wire transfer is as final as a payment via WU -- once sent, it's gone, similar to cash payments. This is essentially different from credit cards and institutions like Paypal that often provide some consumer protection services.
