Dave, how are you defining "1W" ? I've seen several advertised
as 1000mW or better, like these

Small print for some of them states the output power at only a
few hundred mW

(1) would you expect something around 20% efficiency, i/p v o/p ?

(2) what spot size can yours or these be focussed to ?

(3) do Chinese-made lasers have the same reputation as LEDs ?

(4) can you *really* make a dot on a star ? ;-)))
