I think I have been led to my new favorite editor! For several years after Turbo Pascal 3 I used it strictly as an editor.=20 The simplified Wordstar interface just fit my needs. I have never fully=20 accepted pointing devices. Borland offerred a word processor that (Sprint) that allowed the user to=20 redefine the user interface to imitate whatever suited them. As I=20 recall, that led to MicroBabble sueing because it was too easy for a=20 user to make it look like Word. Sprint allowed 6 documents open at a=20 time which was awesome in the world of DOS. It also had a nasty glitch=20 that had to be hacked as faster computers came along. SPF was another=20 favorite editor for those of us with IBM Mainframe exposure. I think the=20 ability to manipulate blocks of text without the mouse was the favorite=20 feature. NP++ looks like it will help me to do things my way again. The new "new" compilers that seem to take so much time to for me to=20 "learn" are really just a new IDE or interface. I find it like working=20 for a new boss who is a micro-manager. When you lock in to using a particular IDE, you allow yourself to become=20 dependent on that particular IDE. You lose awareness of how things fit=20 together and cannot easily move to a new environment in a timely manner.=20 When that happens, you are no longer in charge, you have become a slave=20 to the environment! Thank you, I intend to take the time to learn to properly use PP++!
