Good day to all. I'm looking for a replacement for Notepad text editor in=20 Windows. The replacement editor MUST be aware if the file that is=20 currently open was changed by a different application and prompt to=20 reload if that should occur. I currently have licenses for UltraEdit and TSE but would prefer find=20 a much simpler editor to replace Notepad. All of my old editors=20 (running under DOS / Windows98 are NOT aware if the currently-open=20 file was modified by an outside application. I'd prefer to find an editor that will run on all Windows platform=20 from Win98se on up to Win7 if possible. Free is nice but I'm=20 prepared to pay a shareware fee provided I can install the program on=20 all of my (several) computers. I'm guessing that most of us here on the PIClist have a favorite=20 editor and I'm hoping to tap the accumulated opinions. Reason for the change: I'm in the habit of leaving text files open in=20 my editors (Qedit, UltraEdit, Notepad) and either changing an open=20 file in MPLAB or on a different computer via Dropbox. This hasn't=20 yet caused any data loss, because I'm careful. But I'd rather be=20 covered by using an editor that is aware if the file was changed=20 externally, then prompts for me to reload the file. Bonus points if the editor reloads the changed file with the cursor=20 on the same (or approximately same) line that it was on before the=20 file was reloaded. Any suggestions? Many thanks! dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
