I think the R-Pi guys had a lot of additional support: some of the engineers worked for Broadcom anyway, meaning the lengthy (and expensive) procedure of procuring the CPU and its support software was reduced greatly. Not to mention the support from industry that they've had as the media attention has increased. Copies will probably have trouble doing that. > Check this product from Olimex (available early May): > http://www.olimex.com/dev/oli_left.htm That's an entirely different kettle of fish: it's based on a much less powerful ARM9 core without the extra GPU component and with less RAM. It's also about the same price: =8045 for the assembled product, which means that it really can't compete in the same market. There have already been a number of cheap Linux computers based on an ARM core but so far none that I have seen have had the same performance for the price. --=20 Brendan Gillatt http://www.brendangillatt.co.uk --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
