I have a friend who some years ago built a motorcycle from a Hillman
Imp. He used as many Hillman Imp parts as was reasonably possible.
Engine (850 cc), wheels, instrument panel, battery, probably rear
shocks, ... much more. As I recall he built a two speed gearbox from
steel plate plus HI gears etc. Needless to say he is fairly capable
mechanically.
When driven on the street the bike is unremarkable - almost nobody
would notice anything unusual about it as it passes. But on closer
examination the mind boggles, as it were. Impressive. Photos somewhere
