If OP is still having problem, please supply schematic of FET drivers.
Have you physically moved the driver input signals to reverse the direction=
 of motion ?
Does the motor then run smoothly in the reverse direction and poorly in the=
 original direction ?
What other tests of the FET driver have you made ?
