It makes sense at the bottom of my road. Currently when I'm
turning right from the main road into my road, someone turning
left has to wait for me. But behind them the road goes from
one lane under a bridge to two lanes. So people overtake the
left-turner and stop me from turning right. This leaves the left-
turner as a road block in the left lane. I wave them around the
corner because the left-turner always has a clear turn and I'm
not going anywhere until there's a break in the traffic

I just hope that those who 'get it' won't assume that everyone
else has too and plough on regardless
