I think it's an issue with getting the heat at the right location=20 without melting other nearby critical parts. This was more for desolder=20 than solder, and that tends to be a challenge... especially since I=20 suspect that was before I discovered the benefits of using the right=20 (good quality) flux. I also suspect using it to reflow solder paste=20 would likely be a more useful application. And honestly, once I discovered chipquik at my home lab I don't have=20 much need for it anymore, although I am considering using it again for=20 semi-automatic soldering of connectors at the manufacturing facility. =20 Basically selective reflow of pin-in-paste for connectors which can't be=20 baked.. Also at the manufacturing facility, we've just ended up with one of the=20 PACE MBT 350's (I think I got the right number) with a standard iron,=20 hot tweezers, and solder sucker/extractor. Haven't found anything we=20 couldn't rework just as quickly and with less damage with that set. Of=20 course lots of tips, but still, the fact that we are able to quickly an=20 easily rework stuff as fine pitched as those 20mil microchip tqfp's is=20 amazing. -forrest On 3/20/2012 2:20 AM, Luis Moreira wrote: > Hi, > > Sorry If I confused the issue when I started, I am looking primarily for = an > hot air soldering/rework station or dual function.
