Just came across what appears to be a new family of microchip switching reg=
ulators (least I hadn't noticed them before, but datasheet is (c) 2011). Bo=
th series are synchronous buck regulators with both FETS internal, so 3 cap=
s, 1 inductor and 1 to 3 resistors required. Both come in 3 x 3 QFN package=
 though.

MCP16321/2 24V in, 1/2A out fixed (down to 0.9V, up to 5V) or variable over=
 0.9 to 5V.
