That about matches my experience. And I do have backups, of course. The problem is the down time required to format the drives and restore. Having = a second server will allow me to do exactly that. In theory, it keeps things from breaking. In reality, it adds more things that can break, and it breaks in incomprehensible and hard-to-fix ways. Fo= r data that changes relatively slowly, a backup disk maintained by software might work better.
