The 12c671 was a nice chip in its day - I built a LOT of stuff with=20 that chip. Of course, I now use the 12f675 instead. There are a few places where the "C" version of the PIC chips is=20 preferred over the "F" versions - mostly down-hole tools used in the=20 oil-patch. The "C" versions continue to run reliably at over 200C=20 temperatures, as opposed to the "F" variants that work but forget=20 what they are supposed to be doing (the flash memory degrades and=20 becomes erased at elevated temperatures). I still have several of the PICstart Plus programmers here and those=20 program all of the "C" versions of PIC chip just fine. In your case, you could have developed your program on a chip that is=20 easily re-programmed (the 16f84 would have been just fine), then=20 re-assembled for the 12c71 and programmed the chip. But you would=20 have had to use your EPIC programmer. dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
