> After 6 Months its only failure was the only non redundant part - The > RAID Controller board, and the OEM had non in stock. That has always been a concern of mine. One must accept that it will fail. Regardless of expense, build quality or company reputation. I often have debates here at work where people want to spend outrageous sums for reliability where I prefer to have a well thought out cost effective simple solution for when it does fail. And no matter what solution they propose, I can quickly identify a single point of failure which sometimes has been multiplied in an attempt to provide some redundancy. We have experienced RAID failures which where costly in down time. These were serious RAID controllers for their time but they are complex to manage and time consuming to recover from. I would enjoy a trip thru a google data center to see how they manage to never loose my emails for no perceived cost to me.
