Hi Colin.

If you are in doubt of the quality of particular water heater
brand made in China I would think you might look for decent
isolation transformer of appropriate power rating and would
connect the electrical water heater through it. Don't forget
to have a fuse in secondary in case if heater will decide
to short circuit in addition. :)
