Hi, Thank you for your reply. Flash is=20 HY27US(08/16)12(1/2)B Series 512Mbit (64Mx8bit / 32Mx16bit) NAND Flash and you are probably right. It seems to be a block structured device. Further in a log I found out BrcmNAND mfg ad 76 Hynix HY27US08121A (dream) 64MB Found NAND: ACC=3D00000000, cfg=3D04042300, flashId=3Dad76ad76, tim1=3D5363= 444f,=20 tim2=3D00000fc6 BrcmNAND version =3D 0x0001 64MB @00000000 Found NAND chip on Chip Select 1, chipSize=3D64MB, usable size=3D64MB, base= =3D14000000 ACC_CONTROL B4: 00000000 ACC_CONTROL after: 20000000 age_shift=3D9, bbt_erase_shift=3D14, chip_shift=3D26, phys_erase_shift=3D14 rcm NAND controller version =3D 0.1 NAND flash size 64MB @14000000 td->oobsize=3D16, mtd->eccOobSize=3D16 rcmnand_scan: mtd->oobsize=3D16 rcmnand_scan: oobavail=3D12, eccsize=3D512, writesize=3D512 rcmnand_scan, eccsize=3D512, writesize=3D512, eccsteps=3D1, ecclevel=3D15, = eccbytes=3D3 brcmnand_default_bbt: bbt_td =3D bbt_main_descr Bad block table found at page 1ffe0, version 0x01 Bad block table found at page 1ffc0, version 0x01 rcmnandCET: Status -> Deferred numchips=3D1, size=3D4000000 Creating 4 MTD partitions on "bcm7xxx-nand.0": 0x0000000000000000-0x0000000004000000 : "complete" 0x0000000000000000-0x0000000000040000 : "loader" 0x0000000000040000-0x0000000000400000 : "boot partition" 0x0000000000400000-0x0000000004000000 : "root partition" >=20 > You indicated that the flash was the device the OS is located on, so it i= s > a block structured device. More likely it is SPI flash. >=20 > I believe you also indicated (although I couldn't find the reference) tha= t > the flash was an SD card. NO, the flash is one of the HY27US(08/16)12(1/2)B Series see above >=20 >=20 > Since you have no RAM other than the SDRAM, that almost certainly starts > at zero and extends for as much as you have, unless, of course, you have > memory on the processor (as in a PIC). Can you please explain a little more what you mean by "extends for as much as you have" Do you mean that if the SDRAM has=20 Density: 512M bits and there are 4 modules e.g. 16M words =D7 8 bits =D7 4 banks (EDD5108AGTA) or=20 8M words =D7 16 bits =D7 4 banks I can expect=20 SDRAM has 512MB and memory range is from 0 upto 1024x1024x512 that is from 0x0 upto 0x51200000=20 (in hexadecimal notation) ? But where is the BIOS then? Above the SDRAM? BIOS is 4 Mbit (512Kb x 8) Low Voltage UV EPROM Thanks again for help L. >=20 > --McD >=20 >=20 > --=20 > http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive > View/change your membership options at > http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
