FIFO Reset Register? - I guess writing anything to this register resets the
FIFO to empty.

I like the way you think, it may actually be an undocumented "feature".

Hmm, same register, but presumably needs a certain bit pattern for that
operation, that is different to the reset bit pattern above - which sort of
suggest my interpretation of the register name is nonsense ...

It is actually described as FIFO and Reset Mode Configuration Register.

Hmm, following from the Microchip Home Page/Zigbee/Datasheets and hovering
mouse over datasheet link suggests there is a Rev C dated 29-Nov-2011 ...

Maybe time for an update.
