I had an almost identical problem with an INTEL Server of ~2000 vintage. I
never fully identified the cause but swapping out the Power Supply solved
the problem long enough to get all the data off it and port everything to a
new PC.  As far as I know swapping the Power Supply may have solved the
problem, but as the Server is now redundant I have not bothered to test it.
