Good day to all. We are working on a project that needs a low-power numeric display=20 that works down to at least -30C. Although I use and really like the=20 low-temp LCD displays from LXD, I can't handle the high segment count=20 of static displays. That means using a multiplexed LCD display,=20 which LXD doesn't manufacture. This display will be housed in a small die-cast metal enclosure with=20 a viewing port. Digit height of 0.25" - 0.40" seems to be appropriate. Because the project is at the concept stage right now, I'm flexible=20 as to what the display looks like. A single row of at least 8 digits=20 is my minimum but the digits could be 14 or 16 segment (for=20 displaying alpha characters) rather than just 7 segment. I don't need graphics or even a standard 'smart' LCD with dot-matrix=20 characters, unless I can find something that is low-cost and works=20 down to at least -30C. Being usable down to -minus 40C (even if its=20 really slow) would be a bonus. Standard 2-level multiplex with 4 select lines is preferred. The target processor for this project is going to be one of TI's=20 MSP430 chips with on-board LCD drive unless I can find a PIC that=20 incorporates the same features. I know that modern PICs can give=20 MSP430 a run for their money when it comes to low-power, but TI has=20 been making the MSP family for a really long time now and they have a=20 very nice range of chips to choose from with the feature set that=20 this project needs. In this case, really low power operation with=20 on-board multiplexed LCD drive. Any display supplier suggestions gratefully accepted.
