I've been using Gold Phoenix for a couple of years now....never had a problem with them. I've combined designs (when I didnt need 20 proto boards) and they have a small charge, but still less expensive than doing two different runs. I've been surprised at how good the silk screen is also when I've reduced it down for tight designs. ______________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] On Behalf Of Dwayne Reid Sent: Monday, January 02, 2012 12:27 PM To: Microcontroller discussion list - Public. Quick turn proto boards: AP Circuits Fast but expensive. But I get my prototype boards in my hands 3 days=20 after I send them the files. Pretty hard to beat that speed. Slow turn proto boards: Univelop Fairly slow (10 business days plus ship time) but good quality boards=20 for cheap. Prices have recently gone up but you can get 200 square=20 inches of board (15" x 15") for $100 (includes shipping) to anywhere=20 in Canada and the USA. Note: they don't allow combining multiple designs onto a single=20 board. However, I do have a design that combines several different=20 PCB designs into a single board, where all the individual boards have=20 interconnect traces between them. We use the board full size where=20 needed and separate the individual boards for smaller projects. They=20 didn't have any problems with that board. If you need more than 200 inches worth of those same boards, I think=20 the adder to have the order doubled is something like US $40 for the=20 extra board and shipping. I use them a LOT for both good-quality prototype boards as well as production. IQE More expensive that Univelop (above) but much higher board=20 quality. They included full test coupons and test results for the=20 first several boards that they did for us to prove their commitment=20 to quality. I use these guys for production boards (in addition to=20 Univelop (above). Seeed Studio I haven't yet used their PCB service but I purchase products from=20 them on a regular basis where the PCB was done by their service - and=20 they look good. I *really* like Seeed Studio - I think that they are a bunch of geeks=20 who do things because they like to, as opposed to being in the=20 business to get rich. Whatever the reason, I purchase their products=20 and am currently in the process of getting them to be my very first=20 contract manufacturer for an all SMD board design. Itead Studio Competitor to Seeed Studio, at least as for as PCB production is=20 concerned. They keep increasing what they do for the same dollars -=20 when one of those two companies makes a change, the other copies that=20 change, whether it be lowering prices or increasing quantities. All boards from Seeed and Itead include: double-sided /w=20 plated-through holes, soldermask both sides, silkscreen both sides,=20 100% e-test for all boards. They both say 4-6 business days for=20 production plus whatever ship time takes. Typical prices for both Seeed and Itead: 5cm x 5cm, 8 pcs: US $15 plus shipping I have a Canadian supplier as well: Image Pro Circuits out of=20 Vancouver, BC Their prices seem to bounce around - sometimes they are reasonable,=20 sometimes not. I've gotten a couple of small production runs done by=20 them recently when their prices were in line with my other=20 suppliers. Quality was first rate and I'll happily use them again.
