A project for a friend a couple of years ago was the addition of
digital sound (dsPIC) to an original Edison cylinder player. It looks
and sounds as though it plays a cylinder but in fact there's no stylus
and the audio is triggered mechanically

I downloaded some files from here

and there was a torrent from somewhere, with many cylinder
