digitize the records.  Store those digitized
recordings (in both WAV and MP3 format) with the
records as well as keeping a copy for your own enjoyment.

I have done this, using Audacity, it's available both Windows and Linux. Ge=
t's rid of noise, allows cut and past, etc.

Of course you need something to play them. Typically a pre-amp is needed on=
 the PC sound input.
