No. All modern CPUs have thermal throttling to ensure they don't overheat. You can remove the CPU of a running CPU and all that will happen is the system will hang. Contrast this to a few years ago where you'd see flame and smoke performing the same test (check out tomshardware.com for some videos). 98C at the core means the actual pins were well below that, so nothing would be amiss with your board either.
