If it is indeed the JTAG MK1 as I suspect you can use:

"Supported Devices

Currently the JTAGICE supports the following devices:

ATmega16(L),  ATmega162(L), ATmega169(L or V), ATmega32(L),
ATmega323(L), ATmega64(L), ATmega128(L)."

and I think one of the CAN chips.

It's all there in the Help files in AVR Studio version 4.xxx
I don't believe AS5 supports the old ICE but don't really know.
